This weekend, I had a sudden flow of inspiration and worked on a cover of one of my favorite bands. I took a rather up beat song and transformed it into a moody, inspirational piece. I look forward to sharing it with all of you soon. The song will probably be released after the first single is released, in July. I also plan on doing more covers as well. More details on that will be coming soon. Lastly, Josh just launched his photography portfolio website so check out at Joshbeck.net. In an effort to be more diligent in updating / blogging on the website, I’m aiming to do a blog type post once a week.. maybe Mondays?
Until next time,

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this and I apologize for that. I can’t believe that it’s practically August! I’ve been in hibernation, working on new songs for you all to hear. I have over 40 demos and it’s a daunting task to narrow down the songs, and on top of that, record them all. But, I am enjoying it so I can’t complain too much.
I have a fun show planned for August 23rd in Irvine, CA and you can get the full scoop here. It’s a free show and it’s outdoors so come out and enjoy the last days of summer ’09.
For all of you who have been with me since the beginning, my old high school band, Ridicule, is playing a very special memorial show in honor of Tristan Grant. You can find full details on there here.
More updates to come!
In celebration of my newly built online store, I am giving everyone a limited time, free mp3 download special. Head over to and use the voucher code “FR33MP3″ at the checkout to get a free mp3 of your choice. Enjoy!
After unloading all the gear from last nights show, I’ve set up my studio once again and am working hard on these new songs. I’ve decided to put my amps in the control room for easier tone-finding capabilities.
I’ve also been entertaining the idea of having online acoustic performances via web cam on ustream or stickam. That is still in the works but it seems like a good idea.
Hope everyone is having a great spring break!
I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who came out to the show at diPiazzas in Long Beach. It was nice to see some returning friends and make some new ones as well. Thanks to Thao for putting together the benefit show. We definitely had a great time.
Now, its time for me to head back to the studio and finish some songs! Get excited for Season Two.
I hope to see your friendly faces there!
I’m trying to scale down our bass rig from an 810 to a 610. Ideally, I’d like to trade the 810 for an Ampeg 610HLF. Alternately, I would want to sell the bass cab for $600. The cab is in perfect working order. It has some minor tolex scratches and tears. Check out the pictures for cosmetic details. I’d like to deal locally and avoid shipping. Cash only please. Contact email@example.com if you’re interested!

Don’t you hate it when you think of a brilliant idea, only to forget it the next day or even next hour? I’ve done this a number of times when it comes to songs. An awesome idea would pop into my head while I was playing guitar or piano, and I’d be too lazy to break out a microphone and open up my recording to record the idea. Next thing I know, POOF, the idea is gone. Some of the best ideas I’ve had came to me while I was just messing around. To best capture these moments, I have set up a mic to always be plugged in so I have no excuse not to record the idea. When I am messing around on guitar or piano, the mic will be on to capture anything I’m playing at the time, just in case I need to reference it. I’ve also found that I think of a lot of quality melodies while I’m driving and listening to the instrumental tracks of new songs. I take advantage of this by using my phone to record melodies when a useable one comes around. The quality is not the best, but it can definitely be used to recall ideas.
